The most powerful video-enabled iPhone 13 ProMax may be delayed for pre-order
Although we have speculated that Apple will set the iPhone 13 launch date on September 14, the latest news suggests that the 6.7-inch iPhone 13 ProMax may be delayed in pre-orders. According to the news from the production chain, the iPhone 13 ProMax only started production on August 28, and although the three production lines are in full production, I'm afraid the final pre-sale will have to wait until October. iPhone 13 ProMax will still be available in black, white, gold and an improved blue color scheme.
The iPhone 13 ProMax will be delayed in reservation, but the Pro model is still the strongest in the iPhone 13 series in terms of features. According to the iPhone 13 series schematics revealed earlier, the thickness of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will increase to 7.57mm from 7.4mm in the iPhone 12 series. Although the increased thickness of 0.17 mm will not bring about an impact on usage, it shows that Apple is still upgrading the iPhone's camera a lot.
As you can see from the exposed images, the new iPhone 13 has a more pronounced camera bump and a higher bump thickness, especially on the iPhone 13 Pro model. iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro have a rear camera bump between 1.5mm and 1.7mm, while the iPhone 13 has a lens bump thickness of 2.51mm on the back. The iPhone 13 Pro's rear camera bump is 3.65mm thick.
The increase in camera thickness behind the iPhone 13 series is due to improvements in camera image quality and the addition of sensor shift technology. The new iPhone 13 Pro is expected to include the same sensor shift technology for the main camera as the iPhone 12 Pro Max, while the iPhone 13 Pro Max will include sensor shift technology for the ultra-wide angle lens. In addition, the 65mm telephoto lens from the iPhone 12 Pro Max will also appear on the iPhone 13 Pro.
However, while the iPhone 13 ProMax will have the same exclusive LiDAR LiDAR as the 6.1-inch iPhone 13 Pro, and a 1/1.73-inch main camera sensor, the 6.7-inch version will have an exclusive 7P F1.5 aperture lens.
In addition to hardware enhancements, the iPhone 13 Pro series will also be enhanced in terms of features. According to Mack Gurman, Apple will further upgrade the iPhone's video capture capabilities by adding professional ProRes video recording support, as well as introducing the existing Portrait mode to video and a new filter system to the photo editing features.
Portrait mode was originally released on the iPhone 7 Plus and was very popular with users. Portrait mode is also the first time the phone has been able to take portrait photos with a bokeh background similar to that of a DSLR camera. For the upcoming new iPhone, Apple plans to introduce this feature to video shooting, calculating depth of field in real time with the iPhone's LiDAR and depth sensors and allowing users to have control over the background bokeh effect after video recording is complete.
In addition to portrait mode, Apple plans to add ProRes video to the iPhone, providing users with a higher quality video recording format and richer post-editing control. According to Mack Gurman, similar to ProRAW, ProRes video will only be available on the high-end iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max models.
As for the new photo filter system, according to Mark Gurman, Apple plans to provide photographers with more advanced photo filters by more accurately "using artificial intelligence to make changes to objects and people throughout the photo" rather than directly applying the filter to the entire photo. The effect of the function, but also wait for the future launch to explain.
In terms of performance, the iPhone 13 series will use the A15 processor with TSMC's latest 5NP process, a 6-core CPU and an upgraded 5-core GPU, and reportedly continue to reduce power consumption.
Although the iPhone 13 ProMax will support 120Hz screen refresh, with a 4352mAh battery and a lower power consumption A15 processor, the iPhone 13 ProMax is said to have better battery life performance than the previous generation iPhone 12 ProMax.
